Lovely Elopement on Lopez Island
This styled elopement on Lopez Island in the San Juan Islands of Washington State was incredible!
This was my first time traveling to the San Juans, so I made sure to drive up from Oregon the night before our styled elopement. I stayed at a cute inn in Anacortes, WA so I would be close enough to the ferry to not have to rush in the morning. Spring in the PNW can be unpredictable, so I was pleasantly surprised when I woke up to perfectly clear skies. Waiting in the ferry line was a treat since I could really take in the beauty of the area. I could not get enough of my surroundings during the 30 minute ferry ride either and I am constantly in awe of the Pacific Northwest.
Lopez Island itself is absolutely charming. People are so kind, they wave as you drive by, strike up conversation while waiting in line and locals sitting on their porches cheered for our couple when they saw us walk by.
We started our styled shoot by meeting at the Lopez Village Market. From their we partnered up in cars and made a scenic and peaceful drive to the trailhead for Iceberg Point. We took a short and easy hike to where our photoshoot would mostly take place. I love a trail that takes you through the forest and breaks for stunning views and that is exactly what this trail did! Our clear and beautiful day made it possible to see out over the water and see the Olympic Mountains.
Our couple, Lauren and Josh, are newlyweds and were a joy to photograph! They were adventurous, fun and down for whatever poses our group asked for.
I really enjoyed this day and am always happy to connect with other photographers in stunning locations!
