Jonathan's Surprise Proposal at Haystack Rock


Jonathan reached out in February to set up a photographer for his surprise proposal to Maria, his girlfriend at the time. The couple was heading to Oregon from California for a quick getaway to celebrate Jonathan's birthday—their very first visit to the state! Jonathan shared that Maria had always dreamed of being proposed to on the beach at sunset. I made sure to set realistic expectations, mentioning that while Oregon coast sunsets aren't always guaranteed, they're absolutely gorgeous when they do happen.

The weather and sky were on our side, bringing a beautiful golden hour and an amazing sunset for their proposal. Maria was so surprised that she took a moment before saying yes—which actually worked out perfectly for me, giving me plenty of time to capture every wonderful moment.

After the newly engaged couple had a chance to soak it all in, I finally got to formally meet Jonathan and Maria in person. We took some lovely engagement photos before they settled on the beach to enjoy the sunset and share the exciting news with their friends and family.
